EU Published Regulation (EU) No 681/2013/EU Amending the limit for soluble barium in toys

On 18 July 2013, Commission Regulation (EU) No 681/2013 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), amending 2009/48/EC Annex II, part III, Article 13 for the limit of soluble barium. After this amending, the new limit for soluble barium is same as the harmonised standard EN71-3:2013. This Regulation shall enter into force on 20 July 2013.

In part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC, the entry for barium in point 13 is replaced by the following:

Element	in dry, brittle, power-like or pliable toy material ( mg/kg)	in liquid or sticky toy material ( mg/kg)	in scrapped-off toy material (mg/kg)
Barium	1500	375	18750
