Canada Prohibit the Use of TCEP in Children’s Products Under 3 Years of Age
On 23 April 2014, Canada published Regulations Amending Schedule 2 to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act in the Canada Gazette to prohibit the use of the flame retardant tris-(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP, Chemical Abstracts Service No. 115-96-8) in polyurethane (PU)-foam containing products that are made, in whole or in part for children under three years of age.
The new law will come into force on 24 October 2014 (6 months after publication in the Canada Gazette, Part II).
