NEWSupdate:2012-03-12NO.: DOC120304-01EU Directive 2012/7/EU Amended the limit for soluble cadmium in toysBackground: On May 11th, 2009, the new Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC (TSD) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). The new TSD came into force on 20 July 2009 and Member States began applying the new measures from 20 July 2011. There is an exception for the chemical requirements under part III of ANNEX II. These chemical requirements will come into force on 20 July 2013. On March 3, 2012, the Directive 2012/7/EU was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), amending 2009/48/EC Annex II, part III, Article 13 for the limit of soluble cadmium. This Directive shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC is amended as follows:
